2026 Players' Championship golf

The Bets: (All £2.50 ew)

Ludvig Aberg @ 16/1
Xander Schauffele @ 22/1
Chris Gotterup @ 33/1
Corey Conners @ 40/1

What happened:

Let's pick it up after the second round...

Aberg leads on twelve under, Schauffele is two strokes behind in second. Conners is tied fourth on -8 with Gotterup further back (equal 42nd at even par).

After round three Aberg was still on top, his 13 under score giving him a three shot lead. Schauffele and Connors are five back, tied for fourth, while Gotterup is on four under (T26).

Aberg fell out of contention on the final back nine, eventually coming home tied for fifth, four shots behind winner Cam Young. Our best-placed selection was Schauffele in third place on -11. Conners missed out on an each way payout by one stroke (T13th) while a poor last day from Gotterup saw him end T56th.

So, two pickups for a total of £24.

2025 Ryder Cup

The bet: The Tie - £4 @ 13/1

What happened:

Europe took the opening foursomes 3-1 then followed up with a 2.5-1.5 advantage in the fourballs to lead 5.5-2.5 after day one.

3-1 wins for Europe in both formats on day two to stretch the lead to 11.5-4.5. That became 12-5 when Viktor Hovland pulled out of the singles with a neck injury so was given half a point along with USA 'envelope' man Harris English.

The incredible US fightback in the singles actually made the tie look like a possibility but in the end Europe won the cup 15-13, and that's good too.

£2.50 ew - John Rahm @12/1 (8 places)
£2 ew - Ludvig Aberg @25/1 (8 places)
£2 ew - Justin Rose @ 40/1 (10 places)
£2 ew - Russell Henley @ 50/1 (10 places)

£1 ew - Adam Scott @ 55/1 (10 places)
£1 ew - Harris English @ 80/1 (10 places)
50p ew - Sungjae Im @ 100/1 (12 places)

(A fifth the odds for each way terms)

What happened?:

Let's pick things up at the halfway point where Scottie Scheffler has set the pace with a score of ten under.

English is our best-placed selection, joint-fifth at five under
Schauffele, Rose and Aberg are all at two under, tied for 17th
Henley, Im and Rahm are level par, tied 34th.

Penge and Scott missed the cut.

Onto 'Moving Day'...

Scheffler moved into a clear lead, his 14 under total four strokes clear of the field. We're probably playing for place money with...

-8 English (T4)
-7 Schauffele (8)
-6 Henley (T9)
-5 Rose and Aberg (T14)
-4 Im (T22)
-2 Rahm (T34)

Scheffler closed out the win with a 17 under final score.
English followed him home four shots behind (for £17)
Schauffele finished 10 under for joint-seventh (£4)
Henley was a shot further back in joint tenth (£5.50)
Rose (-7, T16), Aberg (-6 T23), Rahm (-3, T34) and Im (Even, T52) all finished outside the place money.

The £26.50 nearly covered the bet!

England v India - 2nd Test

The bet: England to win £2 at 22/1

What happened:

A speculative couple of quid on the thought that England could chase down 600+.

That didn't come off - let's move on.
