France knocked out Portugal on penalties in the quarters so that was Fernandes' chances gone.

Then Spain beat France in the semis so that was the end of that.

10 June - Euro 2016

This portfolio may build over the course of the Championship but we start with...

Belgium - £3 @ 11/1

Poland - £1.50 e/w @ 40/1

Robert Lewandowski top scorer - £2 @14/1

Croatia £5 @ 8/1 (After the Group stage - draw opening up nicely)

Outlay: £13

Placed By: P

Information:

Er, nothing doing. Lewandowski scored once. Croatia fell in the second round and Poland and Belgium bit the dust in the quarters. Let's move on...

12 March - FA Cup

The bet: West Ham £5 @ 9/1

Placed By: P

Info:

9/1? When they're already in the quarter-finals? Against a woeful Manchester United side? Surely that's value.

It wasn't. The Hammers lost the quarter-final replay.

12 June - World Cup

The Bets

£5 Fred @22/1 for top scorer
£2.50 e/w France @ 16/1 to win

Placed by: P

Information

Fred's contribution in the first game was to dive outrageously for a Brazil penalty. This bet already looks lost.

That dive was more than he managed in the game against Mexico where he wandered around, got caught offside several times and was subbed after 67 minutes.

France started with a comfortable 3-0 win over Honduras and followed that up with an even more impressive 5-2 victory against Switzerland.
