20 April - World Snooker Championship

The bets:

Mark Selby £5 @ 6/1
Mark Allen £2.50 e/w @ 14/1

Placed by: P

Results:

Allen knocked out in round one.
Selby knocked out in round two.

Information:

Mark Allen was 8-6 up in his first round match against Mark King but then contrived to lose four frames in a row. "I wouldn't say it's a setback but it's disappointing, obviously, today," said Allen. "It'll have no bearing on my future matches; it's just one of those things. Mark played his best snooker of the match from 8-6. I don't need geeing up. It's nice to do well, but I won't dwell on it."

Selby also blew a lead in his match to Barry Hawkins going from 9-6 up to a 13-10 defeat. The world number one said: ""I struggled all the way through the match and Barry took the chances and scored better than me. I have struggled all season but won two events, even though I was not playing great.
Coming here I was confident but to perform like that is a disappointment. I had no drive, no buzz out there and I didn't really show up."

11 April - The Masters

The bets:

Phil Mickelson
Nick Watney
Justin Rose

Placed by: K

The results:

Mickelson T54
Watney - T13
Rose - T25

Report: Not a huge disaster but nothing to shout about either. Phil Mickelson shot an opening round 71 to be well poised but then couldn't break par for the rest of the tournament.

Nick Watney made a dreadful start with a 78 but followed that with 69, 68, 72 for a never-nearer 13th place.

Justin Rose faded on the weekend. Three under going into Saturday, rounds of 75, 74 on the weekend blew any chance for the Brit.

6 April - Grand National

The bet: £5 e/w on Chicago Grey @10/1

Placed by: K

The result: Pulled up

Information: The Racing Post race-readers wrote the following: "In rear, jumped slowly, blundered 3rd, behind from 19th, tailed off when badly hampered and pulled up last".

So, the first bet on new Gamblor was singularly unsuccessful.

About Gamblor

Gamblor was created to give a couple of blokes a bit of side-interest on sporting events.

It hasn't been a roaring success, neither has it been a disaster. It was running out of steam though so it has had a re-vamp for 2013 and this is Gamblor 2.0 if you will.

The bets and their outcomes will now be recorded here for better or worse.
