26 December - PDC World Darts Championships

The bets: £4 win Phil Taylor at 4/1 and James Wade £2 e/w @ 20/1

Placed by: P

Info:

Both players safely made it through their first round matches.

2nd round - Wade dispatches an out-of-form Wes Newton 4-0 while Taylor struggles early on but overcomes Kevin Painter 4-1. The Artist left rueing missed opportunities.

3rd round - An under-the-weather Wade still has too much for Jamie Caven and wins 4-1. Taylor misses one dart to beat Jelle Klaasen and bows out, beaten 4-3.

Quarter-final - Wade fails to raise his level and is crushed 5-1 by Gary Anderson.

The Bet: £2 e/w Michael Smith @14/1

Info:

After last week's darting disaster let's see if I can redeem myself with an each way interest on 'Bully Boy'.

I couldn't - it was another second round exit. Bah!

13 August - USPGA

The bets:

£2 e/w Jason Day @ 12/1
£2 e/w Rickie Fowler @ 18/1
£1 e/w Dustin Johnson @ 16/1
£1 e/w Brooks Koepka @ 40/1

Placed by: K

Information:

Another great start from Dustin Johnson who fired in an opening round 66 for the lead. Jason Day wasn't far away with a 68 while Koepka and Fowler both shot 73s.

A slightly delayed second round saw Jason Day as our best-placed player. The Aussie was on nine under, two behind compatriot Mike Jones. Johnson fell back after a 73, Fowler's 70 took him to one under with Koepka at two under.

A superb third round 66 from Day saw him take a two shot lead into the final day on 15 under. Johnson is at 9 under with Koepka (-7) our next best chance of some each-way money. Fowler at three under will need something special to get him in the money.

We have a winner! Jason Day set a majors record at 21 under to win by three shots. Koepka finished tied for fifth seven back and Johnson was a shot further back tied for seventh place. Rickie Fowler was tied for 30th.

It all adds up to a £45 pick up.

16 July - The Open

The Bets:

Dustin Johnson £2 e/w @12/1

Henrik Stenson £2 e/w @22/1

Paul Casey £2 e/w @ 40/1

Matt Kuchar £2 e/w @ 50/1

Brooks Koepka £2 e/w @ 50/1

Information:

An excellent opening round of 65 from Dustin Johnson gave him the early lead. Casey (70), Koepka (71) and Kuchar (71) can be pleased with their opening day's work but Stenson ended with a one over par 73.

Round two was seriously delayed by first rain and later high winds but when that was finally completed on Saturday evening Johnson still had a one shot lead at 10 under. Kuchar is six shots off the pace with Casey and Koepka a further shot back and Stenson one more behind.

Most of our players fell back over the last two rounds. Dustin Johnson posted two 75s to finish at four under, Casey (75, 72) finished at level, Stenson and Kuchar both posted two under par rounds to finish four under and three under respectively. Best finisher of our selections was Brooks Koepka with 69, 68 for a ten under total but that was still only enough to finish equal tenth, five off the winner.

17 June - US Open

The bets:

£2 e/w Fowler – 18/1
£2 e/w D Johnson – 22/1
£2 e/w Matsuyama – 30/1
£2 e/w Snedeker – 40/1

Placed by K:

Information:

Rickie Fowler opened with an 81 which gave him no chance of making the cut and duly missed it by nine shots.

Snedeker, Johnson and Matsuyama were all at the sharp end after two rounds.

After three rounds, Johnson was tied for the lead with Snedeker five off the pace and Matsuyama another two behind.

Johnson eventually finished tied for second, a three-putt on the 72nd meant he missed out on a play-off. Snedeker was eighth just four off the pace and Matsuyama was a further four shots back.

The pickup for the Johnson place was £13.

17 April - World Snooker Championship

The bet:

Judd Trump £5 at 6/1

Placed by: P

Report:

Trump made serene progress to the semi-finals but didn't look at his best for large parts of the match against Stuart Bingham. Trump did force a last frame decider but Bingham held his nerve to make a first final.

Saturday, 11 April 2015

10 April - Grand National

The selections

£2.50 e/w The Druid’s Nephew at 12/1
£1.50 e/w Cause of Causes at 14/1
£1 e/w Night in Milan at 28/1

Placed by: P

Report: No pickup here.

The Druid's Nephew was leading and going well when slipping on landing and coming down at the 26th fence.

Cause of Causes finished a never nearer eighth.

Night in Milan looked to be staying on but could only finish 18th.

9 April 2015 - US Masters

The selections

£2 e/w D.Johnson at 14/1
£1 e/w Mickelson at 25/1
£1 e/w Fowler at 33/1
£1 e/w Casey at 55/1

Placed by: P

Report:

All four selections made the cut - Johnson and Casey at -7, Mickelson at -6 and Fowler at a disappointing +1. Each way money looking the best hope though as Jordan Spieth goes into the weekend at -14.

Saturday is moving day and Mickelson closed to five shots of the leader and is third. Johnson and Casey went backwards though and have work to do to finish in the top five.

Spieth finished a four shot winner with Mickelson picking up our each way money for tied second. Casey and Johnson were just outside the money tied for sixth and Fowler tied for 12th.

Pick up: £7.25
